Charlotte Tilbury's new Magic Serum Crystal Elixir is here

por Douglas O'Flaherty (2020-05-19)

In 2013, Charlotte Tilbury Beauty began with one product, Charlotte's Magic Cream, a secret backstage formula that leaves skin plump, soft and glowing.

Seven years on, it's now hailed the ultimate pre-makeup moisturiser with one sold every two minutes globally.

And now, Charlotte is launching a new member of the Magic family: Charlotte's Magic Serum Crystal Elixir. The new serum, which launches on April 16, promises to reduce the appearance of wrinkles by up to 34 per cent after just eight weeks.

'I wanted to create a quick and easy targeted serum to improve skin's outward appearance, making it more glowing, hydrated, and youthful-looking,' Charlotte Tilbury, founder of the eponymous luxury beauty brand link shrinker explained. 'While also enhancing skin texture for smooth makeup application.'

Charlotte compared the 'high-performance elixir' to a personal trainer for your skin cells. 'It whips them into shape, it makes cells stronger and plumps them out,' she said. 'It's like Joe Wicks in a bottle.'

Like Charlotte's Magic Cream, the £60 Magic Serum Crystal Elixir contains the now-legendary Tilbury Magic 8 complex and mixes it with additional ingredients such as niacinamide, vitamin C, replexium, polyglutamic acid and a holistic 5-crystal complex to tackle clarity, radiance, texture and skin resilience.

Dr Anjali Mahto, leading UK consultant dermatologist and author of critically- acclaimed skin guide The Skincare Bible, explained how combined these key ingredients 'help to target the signs we associate with the natural ageing process of the skin, alongside improving the skin's barrier function which is key'.

Along with niacinamide and brightening vitamin C, the serum also includes the brand's exclusive replexium complex, a unique blend of two different patented peptides that trigger collagen production visibly diminishing the appearance of fine lines.

Then there's polyglutamic acid, a hydration powerhouse derived from soybeans that the brand claims has four times the hydrating power of hyaluronic acid to hydrate, prevent moisture loss and leave skin looking plump.

The results speak for themselves, with 93 per cent of participants in a consumer study agreeing their skin looked younger. Charlotte said testify: 'I can vouch for that. Salma Hayek, Kate Moss, Amber Valletta - they've all asked me what work I had done because my skin looked so good.'

'And for someone who behaves quite naughtily at times, my pores have disappeared after using this', she said. 'It's a crystallised satin filter for your skin.'

I had the opportunity to preview Charlotte's Magic Serum Crystal Elixir, and much like Charlotte's Magic Cream, I saw results almost immediately. Although the formula works fast (thanks to the potent mix of ingredients) it's gentle on my reactive skin, and it only takes a couple of drops to decrease dryness, redness and impart a glow. I like to apply half a pipette of the serum to my skin, then follow it up with a moisturiser.
